G'day, I'm Joe – but most people call me Bluey
I grew up in South Gippsland and I've been plumbing for 20 years. I did my apprenticeship in Melbourne, working on everything from pub, club and office refurbishments to new homes and renovations, with plenty of commercial and domestic maintenance in between.
The name comes from my hair. Being a redhead, I was nicknamed "Bluey" when I enlisted in the Australian Army, and it stuck with me when I re-enlisted in 2018.
During my apprenticeship I lived out of home and work.
Bluey's is a one-man business. I do the quote, do the job, clean up and send the invoice myself, so the person you speak to on the phone is the person who turns up. I started Bluey's Plumbing & Gasfitting in 2014.

Domestic, commercial and industrial
My work is split roughly evenly between homes and businesses, with some industrial work on top.
On the commercial side I look after medical centres, pubs and childcare centres across the region – places where downtime isn't an option and compliance matters.
I'm always happy to talk to councils, property managers and businesses about ongoing maintenance.
Maintenance is the work I enjoy most. It makes you think, and there's nothing better than getting something running again for a customer without the cost of replacing it.
Blocked drains, properly diagnosed
My blockage trailer carries a high-pressure water jetter, a CCTV drain camera, a thermal imaging camera and drain-clearing machines.
That means I can see what's actually going on inside your pipes, show you the problem, and clear it properly rather than guessing.
I'm also licensed to test and certify backflow prevention devices.

I'm based in Yallourn North, just outside Traralgon.
My main service area runs from Pakenham to Traralgon including the towns below and I'll travel further for the right job – just ask.
I no longer take on new work in the Melbourne suburbs, but I still look after my existing Melbourne clients.
I've supported several local charities, mainly food relief programs and Oliver's Place.
