Real Help When It Can't Wait

When water is pouring through the ceiling or you can smell gas, you need someone who answers the phone. Joe is a licensed plumber and gasfitter who runs Bluey's Plumbing & Gasfitting himself, and he's available 24/7 for genuine emergencies.

You'll talk to Joe directly, he'll tell you what to do straight away, and he'll get to you as soon as he can.

Joe carries the equipment for most emergencies, including a drain camera, a high-pressure jetter and excavation gear for major breaks. That means he can usually fix the problem on the first visit. Where a full repair has to wait, he'll make it safe and get your water back on. He's a Master Plumbers member, and he'll explain the cost before starting any work.

Joe handles emergencies for homes and businesses across

Call Joe

  • Joe handles all kinds of plumbing and gas emergencies. Here's what to do while you wait:

    • Gas leak: Don't use light switches, phones or anything that could spark near the smell. Turn the gas off at the meter if it's safe, open doors and windows, and get everyone outside. Call Joe from outside. If the smell is strong or you can't turn the gas off, call your gas distributor's 24-hour emergency line (on your gas bill), or 000 if anyone is in danger.
    • Burst pipe: Turn off the water at the meter, usually near your front boundary. Switch off power to any area where water is near electrical outlets or appliances.
    • Leaking hot water system: Turn off the cold water valve on top of the unit, and the gas or power to it.
    • No hot water: Check that the pilot light is on (gas) or that the circuit breaker hasn't tripped (electric) before calling.
    • Blocked or overflowing toilet: Stop flushing and turn off the stop tap behind the toilet.
    • Sewage overflow or blocked drains: Stop using sinks, showers and toilets, and keep children and pets away from any overflow. See more on blocked drains.
    • Overflowing stormwater drains: If it's safe, clear leaves and debris from the grates and gutters.
    • Pipes damaged during building, landscaping or renovations: Turn off the water at the meter and stop digging until the line is located and repaired.
